Emma Brown

My life began in Bath, UK on a hot summer’s day many moons ago. Thanks to my parents I grew up with an inquisitive mind and a passion for tales of lands far away. Now based in London I spend my time photographing people... here, there and everywhere.

I'm always looking for the beauty in imperfection and for where a certain essential energy shines through. I am intrigued by the poetic character of people, by the small and seemingly unimportant things. I like to carry my camera with compassion and curiosity.

January 2014: 'Sahrawi Spirit: People, Poems and Proverbs of the Sahrawi' : A book of  photographs and collected remembrances from the people I've photographed during the first two residencies with Olive Branch Arts is under way... due for exhibition and publication Autumn 2014.

December 2013: Associate Artist at Olive Branch Arts: I was delighted to be asked by David and Becky of Olive Branch Arts to become their Associate Artist. Watch this space for an exciting announcement of where this is going to lead in the new year!
